The Result of Applying Muscle and Joint Exercise Program in Post Hip Arthroplasty Patients and Using Proper Prosthesis of Mahasarakham Hospital.

Abstract

                   Hip fracture has been found often in senior citizen. According to medical records and statistic of Mahasarakham hospital, the incidence is gradually increasing. The researcher, who are orthopedics nurses, are interested in studying the result of the muscle and joint exercise effect on range of motion program in post hip arthroplasty patient. The research is a quasi-experimental which was held between October 1^st, 2012 and September 30^th, 2013. It aimed to examine the result of the muscle and joint exercise effect on range of motion program in post hip arthroplasty patient. The sample group was 48 patients, who are from the age of 40 and admitted in special wards, general wards and orthopedic center. The sample was equally divided into trial group and controlled group. The data was gathered by via personal memorandum, muscle and joint function memo, muscle and joint exercise guideline and post hip arthroplasty guideline. All collected data was analyzed by frequency distribution, percentage, standard deviation then the researcher used t-test to compare the average figure of those 2 sample groups.

               The findings illustrated that after 2 and 5 days of the operation there is no difference of muscle function between the trial group and the controlled group (P>0.5). However, after 7 days of the surgery, the muscle function ability of the trial group is significantly better than the controlled group (P<0.001).
