Quality of life in children with thalassemia and associated factors in Nong Khai Hospital

Objectives : To study the quality of life in children with thalassemia in Nong Khai hospital.
Materials and Methods : An analytic study by prospective data collection, 66 data were collected from 33 patients and 33 caregivers by using Pediatric Quality of Life InventoryTM (PedsQLTM) version 4.0 Generic Score Scale (Thai version).
Results : In the patient, the highest was social functioning, school functioning, physical functioning and emotional functioning, respectively. In the caregiver, the highest was physical functioning, social functioning, emotional functioning and school functioning, respectively. All four functioning were compared to sex, age, growth-development, education, income of care giver and shown no statistically significant.
Conclusion : This study revealed all four functions in acceptable ranges, consistent with previous studies and shown not relevant to the patient and caregiver.
