Keywords:

Objective : To compare breastfeeding efficiency scores of mothers with caesarean section before and after breastfeeding teaching
Methods : This quasi-experimental one-group pre- test and post-test design. The sample was post-caesarean mothers who admitted in the postpartum ward between April and May 2022. The sample size calculated using G*Power program and effect size = 0.5, α = 0.05, Power = 0.80 was set. A sample size of 30 people was obtained. Data was collected using personal data records and Bristal Breastfeeding Assessment Tools: Thai version. Data was analyzed using Friedman test and Wilcoxon signed -rank test for multiple comparison
Result : The results showed that the median scores of breastfeeding before teaching and after teaching 48-hours and 72-hours differed statistically significant at least one pair (p<.001). After using post hoc test, the median breastfeeding scores after 48 hours of teaching were statistically significantly higher than before teaching (p<.001). the median breastfeeding scores after 72 hours of teaching were statistically significantly higher than before teaching (p<.001). The median breastfeeding scores after 72 hours of teaching were statistically significantly higher than 48 hours of teaching (p<.001).
Conclusion : Breastfeeding teaching by face-to-face instruction can be applied to promote breastfeeding during the COVID-19 pandemic or other diseases, including promoting and supporting exclusive breastfeeding at least 6 months.
