Reduced length of Hospitalization in Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty Patients Using Enhanced Recovery After Surgery

Objective : Study the results of care for patients undergoing TKA, enhanced recovery after surgery protocols (ERAS protocol), reducing hospital stays at PhuKhiao Chaloem Phra kiat Hospital, Chaiyaphum Province.
Methods : This is a retrospective study. Compare the results of treatment for TKA patients between the Standard protocol from 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022 and the ERAS protocol to help early recovery after surgery from 1 October 2022 to 30 September 2023 at Phukhieo Chaleom Phra Keit Hospital. Risk factors included gender, age, osteoarthritis knee joint stage, ASA Classification, average post-operative pain on days 1 and 2, degree of knee flexion after surgery on days 1 and 2, length of hospital stay and costs. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including Mann-Whitney U test, Chi-square. Statistical data analysis set statistical significant at p-valve <0.05.
Results : Risk factors were average post-operative pain on days 1 and 2, degree of knee flexion after surgery on days 1 and 2, length of hospital stay and costs, with p-value <0.05, indicating that there was a significant.
Conclusion : enhanced recovery after surgery protocols helps reduce post-operative pain.This allows patients to perform rehabilitation better and faster. As a result, hospital days and costs.
