Environment of Accommodation Affecting the Elderly Accidents in Nongong Subdistrict, Banfang District, Khonkaen Province.

Abstract

This cross-sectional analytical study was aimed to investigate the environment of accommodationaffecting the elder accidents by divided group of elder from 60 years old above in NonKhong district, Ban Phang Khon Kaen province. The data will be collected by using the interview form and survey the environment around the accommodation from February to March 2013. The data were analyzed by the descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and inferential statistics, used the Chi-square test and the Fisher’s exact test to analyzing the relation factor and the multiple logistic regression for the correlation analysis.

The data were presented by Odds ratio and 95% of confident interval. From the sample groups which are divided from 199 persons into three groups: 60-69 years old, 70-79 years old, and above 80 years old. The results showed that during three months of the study,

 The analysis of the relative of the elder from 60-69 years old was from the unorganized stuffs in their residence which caused the accident happens to 8.06 times of the residence that well organized their stuffs (95%CI = 2.99-21.71) The  different area levels in residence caused the accidents to 4.11 times of the flat area level (95%CI = 1.53-11.05) and the elder that got the accidents before will get the accidents again to 8.83 times of the elder that never been got the accident (95%CI = 1.65-47.15) 2. The analysis of the relative of the elder from above 70 years old. The elder that got the accidents before will get the accidents again to 74.46 times of the elder that never been got the accident (95%CI = 4.13-1341.01) The two floors residence caused the accident to 7.35 times of the single floor residence (95%CI = 1.29-41.86) The different levels in kitchen area caused the accident to 9.09 times of the flat level in kitchen area (95%CI = 0.02-0.70) The residence that has pet also caused the accident to 17.13 times of the residence that has no pet (95%CI = 2.63-111.49) and the steep front yard caused the accident to 29.50 times of the front yard that has no steep ( 95%CI = 4.38-198.68)
