Standard care rate of diabetic patients

Abstract

Objectives : To study proportion of diabetic patients achieving standard of care.

STUDY DESIGN : Retrospective descriptive study.

 METHOD :    Family folder of diabetes patients who were taken care in Chayangkun   Community Medical Unit between 1 January to 31 December 2013 were reviewed for background,diagnosis,comorbidity disease,treatment,laboratory  results and diabetes complications screening.

RESULT :  One hundred and thirty diabetic patients were reviewed.There were diabetic                       comorbidity, 76.5% had hypertension and 74.61 % had dyslipidemia.    Diabetic patients who received   annual standard of care,85.38% had annual  foot examinations, and  77.69% had annual retinal examinations .Laboratory  testing were reported as follow: 84.6% had serum creatinine testing,84.62 %  had LDL testing,81.53 % had HbA1c and 74.61% had urine protein                              testing.However,only a small proportion underwent urine microalbumin  testing (3.07%) .

CONCLUSION : Proportion of diabetic patients achieving standard of care of Chayangkun               community medical unit is more than 70 %. However the urine microalbumin checking is still low.
