Motivation and Key Success Factors Affecting the Performance of Dental Personnel at Sub-District Health Promoting Hospitals in Buri Ram Province

Abstract

This cross-sectional descriptive research aimed to study the motivation and key success factors affecting the performance of dental health personnel at sub-district health promoting hospitals in Buri Ram province, Thailand. A set of 123 samples was randomly selected by simple random. Quantitative data was collected by the questionnaire that was examined and verified by the three experts for content validity with items objective congruence (IOC), all items were greater than 0.50, and reliability with Cronbach's alpha coefficient was at 0.98. Qualitative data was collected by the in-depth interview guidelines with 12 key informants. Data was collected between November 10th to December 10th, 2022. Data analysis was performed by descriptive and inferential statistics with a significance level of 0.05.

The results showed that the level of overall motivation, key success factors, and the performance of dental personnel were at a high level (=3.91, S.D.=0.40, =3.86, S.D.=0.48 and =4.15, S.D.=0.48, respectively). The motivation and key success factors had a high level of correlation with the performance of dental personnel in this study (r=0.773, r=0.716, p-value<0.001, respectively). Additionally, the results found that the five variables consisted of two variables of motivator factors; responsibility and achievement, two variables of hygiene factors; job Status and salary and benefit including one variables of key success factors; understanding and encouraging cooperation, could jointly predicted and affected the performance of dental personnel at sub-district health promoting hospitals in Buri Ram province at 74.8 percentage (=0.748, p-value <0.001)
