Abstract

This survey research is a cross-setional analytical aimed to study factocrs associated with dental caries status and study the level of oral health literacy (OHL) in pregnant women, Chumphonburi hospital, Chumphonburi district, Surin province. The samples of the study were pregnant women at Chumphonburi hospital, 138 people. Data were collected between 24 January 2023 to 30 April 2023 using a questionnaire. Multiple logistic regression was used for analysis, an adjusted odds ratio (Adjusted OR) was presented with a 95% confidence interval (95% CI) and the p-value.

The result showed that pregnant women had dental caries 58.7%. Overall oral health literacy (OHL) was high level 51.4 %. Their average age was 26.58 years. Their education level at the high school/vocational certificate 39.9% were housewife/No occupation 42.0%, second pregnancy 41.3%, had an average income of 6,681.54 baht, and were in their third trimester 52.9%. The study found that factors associated with dental caries status in pregnant women includes OHL and income of pregnant women. Found is that pregnant women with low level OHL were about 3.77 times more likely risk of developing dental caries than pregnant women with high level OHL. (Adjusted OR = 3.77; 95% CI: 1.78-7.99, p-value = 0.001) and found is that income >11,000 baht/month were about 0.34 times more likely is a factor in preventing dental caries. than pregnant women with income ≤ 11,000 baht/month. (Adjusted OR = 0.34; 95% CI: 0.13-0.91, p-value = 0.032)
