Abstract

A 9-years-old Thai boy was examined in the emergency department because of severe abdominal pain and vomiting over a 2-hour period. Even though the initial symptoms were nonspecific but the patient had a history of 19-previous hospitalizations for similar symptoms, beginning at about the age of 5. Ultrasonography and computed tomography scan of upper abdomen were sent for evaluation and revealed chronic pancreatitis with pseudocyst at pancreatic tail and mild dilatation of pancreatic duct. The patient was referred to the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital for further endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography with sphincterotomy and stone removal. Pancreatic stone induced chronic pancreatitis and pseudocyst, the lack of history of blunt abdominal trauma and congenital hepatobiliary anomaly were unusual aspect of this case.
