Abstract

This is a study of Prevertebral soft tissue space of the cervical spine level C1 - C7 in 70 normal Thai people, 42 males and 28 females with an average ages of 39.66 year old (ranging from 20-69). The result is supposed to be used as a criteria for diagnosis of the injury of the cervical spine or the condition of retropharyngeal abcess which widens or expands the space by using the maximum value as criteria for diagnosis.

lf the space of the cervical spine is greater than the maximum value, it indicates that there might be injury to the cervical spine. The maximum value are as follows : C1 = 8 mm., C2 = 6 mm., C3 = 7 mm., C4 = 7 mm., C5=17 mm., C6 = 17 mm., C7=17 mm.
