Abstract

Objectives:The research aimed to determine the prevalence and associated factors of mental health problems on healthcare workers at Nakhonpathom Hospital in Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic era.

Methods:In this cross-sectional study, subjects were sampled from 516 healthcare workers at Nakhonpathom Hospital. The research instrument was the self-administered questionnaire consisting of 4 parts: 1) personal factors 2) work factors 3) perception of risk to COVID-19 4) Thai Version of The General Health Questionaire-28 (Thai GHQ-28). The quantitative data were analyzed by using mean and standard deviation. The qualitative data were analyzed by using frequency and percentage. Associated factors, including personal factors and work factors were analyzed using multiple logistic regression. The study was conducted in May 2020

Results:There were 448 healthcare workers (86.8 percentage) answering the questionnaire. The result indicated that 10 percent of the population had mental health problem. The main concerns of the subjects were personal protective equipment adequacy (47.1 percent) and infection of family member from themselves (46.8 percent). Mental health problem positively correlated with male, income inadequacy, and directly taking care of COVID-19 patients.

Conclusion: The prevalence in this study showed no different from previous studies in Thailand before COVID-19 epidemic. However, screening and identifying the at-risk population may help prevent mental health problem in COVID-19 epidemic era.
