The objective was to study clinical characteristics of patients with comorbid psychiatric disorders admitted to Sanpasitthiprasong Hospital. The retrospective descriptive study was conducted by reviewing the hospital’s database of comorbid psychiatric disorder patients admitted to Sanpasitthiprasong Hospital between 1 January 2013 and 30 December 2015. The diagnoses were concluded as code F of ICD10 at discharge. According to the inpatient
database, there were 2,202 patients found having psychiatric disorder while admitted as inpatient 3,409 times, which were 1.49 % of overall inpatients. Most of them were male
(62.26%) aged 18-60 years (71.53%). The prevalence of the top three common disorders were; 1) Schizophrenia, schizotypal and delusional disorders, 2) Mental and behavioral disorders due to psychoactive substance use, and 3) Neurotic, stress-related and somatoform disorders. Average lengths of hospital stay were 4.74±7.04 days and readmission rate were 13.41%. There were 2,253 inpatients with psychiatric symptoms consulted with Department
of Psychiatry, however only 571 psychiatric notes were recorded at discharge summary. Most patients referred from Department of Medicine and mainly were of group of Schizophrenia, schizotypal and delusional disorders. This study indicates that Schizophrenia, schizotypal and delusional disorders had been commonly found on both hospital’s database and Department of Psychiatry records. However, it should be noted that the collected data
in hospital database considerably differed from medical records of Department of Psychiatry. These may due to incomplete recorded data by physicians and/or responsible officers.
