Factors Affecting Development of the Health Promotion Temple in Ubon Ratchathani Municipal Area: The Cause Study of Supattanaram Woravihan Temple.

The purpose of this case study was to study the organizational structure and implementation approaches to be health promotion temple of Supattanaram Woravihan Temple including procedure, performance and the factors that determined health promotion, as well as the achievement of health promotion among the Buddhist monks, the temple’s staff, the elderly, and the families who had participated the activities. The site sampling was
selective among the temples with ongoing development and had passed the criteria of health promoting temple at high levels in 2014. The key informants were introduced by the abbot and by snowball method. Data collections were done by in-depth interview, participant and non-participant observation, and formal and informal discussions from April to July 2015. With data analysis to create a conclusion by analyzing induction, it was found that factors affecting the development started from defining the roles and responsibilities of those involved, both public and private. There was cooperation in the implementation of health promoting temple. The public health agent whose role was surveyor and assessor of health promoting temple made recommendations about the issues that did not meet the criteria and made cooperation of all part to develop the temple. Another factor was the abbot with a vision to develop the temple and had a role as coordinator of cooperation and determined the role of the monks, novices and temple’s staff, as well as other agencies both inside and outside the temple. He was also the operator of the funding for the development of the temple because of gaining respect and faith from the public and various organizations. The implementation of the role and cooperation of all parties resulted in the development of a health promotion temple and lead to healthy being of the monks and people nearby.
