Rehabilitation Medicine Practice in Graduates from Medical Education Center, Sunpasitthiprasong Hospital

The aim of this cross-sectional survey study was to assess the practice of rehabilitation medicine and opinion on curriculum among general practitioners who had graduated from Medical Education Center, Sunpasitthiprasong Hospital during 2010-2013. Self-administered postal questionnaires were sent to 187 medical graduates from Sunpasitthiprasong Hospital in 2010-2013 during August 2012 and June 2014. The questionnaires had 12 articles including 4 of general information, 3 of rehabilitation medicine procedures, and 5 of teaching programs. If questionnaires were not returned, telephone reminder would be conducted to those non-respondents. Also, another questionnaire would be sent. Descriptive statistic was used. Sixteen percent of postal questionnaires were returned and analyzed. Most of graduates (56.7%) practiced in the rural hospitals. The common procedures of rehabilitation medicine used or ordered were range of motion exercise, bed positioning and stretching exercise. The common groups of patients were cerebrovascular diseases/ brain injuries, musculoskeletal pain and fracture of extremities. Most of graduates (73.3%) preferred a 4-week course than a 2-week course while 60% preferred teaching during the fifth year. Clinical practice was the most selected teaching program.
