Factors Factors Influencing Surveillance and Prevention Practices of COVID - 19 among Village Health Volunteers in Kongkrailat District, Sukhothai Province

Abstract

The objective of this cross-sectional analytical research was to examine factors affecting work performance according to the Village Health Volunteers' (VHVs) role in surveillance and prevention of COVID-19 of Kongkrailat District, Sukhothai Province. The samples were 329 VHVs selected by multi-stage sampling including proportional and simple random techniques. The research instruments were questionnaires of knowledge, VHV's role recognition, job motivation getting social support, and performing tasks according to the VHV's roles. The statistical analysis were descriptive statistic and linear multiple regression analysis. The results showed that most of the samples were female (89.4%); average age was 49.20 years (SD± 10.89); years of working time as VHV (13.61, SD ± 9.40); trained as home primary care (86.0%); and the average number of responsible households was 12.18±3.70 households. Most of them had high level of practice (85.7%).The factors affecting the VHV's role in surveillance and prevention of COVID-19 were the perception of the VHV's role (β = 0.387, p < 0.001), receive social support (β = 0.360 p < 0.001), and performance motivation (β = 0.168, p = 0.001). The model equation according to VHV's role in surveillance and prevention of COVID-19 was 4.965 + 0.402 (perceived role of VHV) + 0.508 (social support) + 0.083 (performance motivation). There was able to predict the performance according to the role by 63.8% (Adjusted R² = 0.638). The results of this study can be used as a framework to develop role-based performance programs in the surveillance and prevention of COVID-19 for more effective performance.
