Falls in hospital settings present significant public health challenges, which mostly effect elderly patients across physical, mental, social, and economic dimensions. Encouraging good behavioral practices among elderly patients to prevent falls in hospitals is crucial. This quasi-experimental study aimed to assess the impact of a health belief promotion program on fall prevention behavior among elderly patients admitted to hospitals. The sample comprised individuals aged 60 and above receiving treatment in the Internal Medicine Department of Chonburi Hospital. Fifty patients were selected via simple random sampling and divided equally into an experimental group and a comparison group. The experimental group underwent a health belief promotion program, while the comparison group received standard care. Data were collected pre- and post-intervention using questionnaires on personal information, fall prevention behavior, and the health belief promotion program. Descriptive statistics and t-tests were used for data analysis. Results revealed a significant increase in fall prevention behavior scores among older adult patients post-intervention compared to pre-intervention within the experimental group (t24 = -15.53, p<.01). Additionally, the experimental group exhibited significantly higher post-intervention fall prevention behavior scores compared to the comparison group (t48 = -7.90, p < .01). In conclusion, the health belief promotion program effectively enhanced fall prevention behavior among elderly hospitalized patients. It is recommended that healthcare personnel implement similar programs to raise awareness of health beliefs among older adult patients undergoing treatment to promote fall prevention behavior in hospital settings.
