Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT): Nurse Role’s in Assessment and Care
Abstract
Supraventricular tachycardia is one of common emergencies. It is caused by a short circuit or re-entry circuit of electrocardiogram. It often occurs in short periods of time when it is triggered and disappears in a short time. Some severe symptoms may lead to systolic heart impairment, low cardiac output, congestive heart failure, and even cardiac arrest and sudden death in severe cases. Nurse thus plays an important role in assessment, especially in the early stages in order to treat patients in time and reduce complication and mortality. This article aimed to propose definitions, incidence, risk factors and stimulants, SVT mechanism, diagnosis and treatment including suggestions for nurse’s roles in assessment and care.
