Nursing care for Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia receiving Chemotherapy : 2 case studies

Abstract

Background   : Acute  Myeloid   Leukemia  is  a critical threat of human. The most important for treatment  by using chemotherapy  that may cause complications  effected with patient stay longer in the hospital and might be death.

Objectives   : The  study   is comparative study of two patients with acute myeloid leukemia.

Methodology :  The study of specific two patients with acute myeloid leukemia who receiving chemotherapy  in Khon Kaen Hospital. Collecting data from patient history, medical treatment, medical record, patient  and family.   Nursing Diagnostic by using health  model  of 11 Gordon’s.  Nursing implementation  follow  nursing diagnosis, evaluation and evaluation nursing outcome.

Case studies : The first case Thai female was 15 years old. The second case Thai female was 39 years old who had diagnosis of Acute Myeloblastic  Leukemia in the first stage for induction treatment with complications of bone marrow compression, anemia, low white blood cell, low platelet   count, The second case has febrile neutropenia and  acute diarrhea after receiving Chemotherapy. Providing Holistic care for patients to resolve severe complication and mortality.

Results   : Providing chemotherapy  with rapid assessment including effective of nursing care for acute myeloid leukemia to reduce severe complication  and mortality rate due to nursing knowledge with specialized  nursing skill follow  standardized nursing practice for effective of nursing care.
