FACTORS RELATED TO SELF-CARE BEHAVIOR OF THE ELDERLY IN THE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY SOMDET HOSPITAL, KALASIN PROVINCE

The purposes of this research were to study was to study the self-care behaviors of the elderly and to study the factors of self-care of the elderly that are related to the self-care behaviors of the elderly in the area responsible for Somdet Hospital Kalasin Province. Data were collected by using a questionnaire from a sample of 535 elderly people aged 60 years and over residing in the area of responsibility of Somdet Hospital, Somdet Sub-district, Somdet District, Kalasin Province, totaling 535 people. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentage, value, mean and standard deviation and inferential statistics using Chi-square test values. The research findings were as follows: 1) the self-care of the elderly the overall level was at a high level. 2) The self-care behavior of the elderly the overall level was at a moderate level. 3) Personal factors in education level it was related to the self-care behaviors of the elderly the statistical significance was at the 0.05 level. The personal factors were sex, age, status, occupation, income, health status and receiving advice there was no relationship with the self-care behaviors of the elderly. 4) Health care factors in exercise and dental care there was a relationship with the self-care behaviors of the elderly with statistical significance at 0.05 level. As for food, emotional, non-smoker factors non-drinking aspect there was no relationship with the self-care behaviors of the elderly.
