PEOPLE'S PERCEPTIONS AND EXPECTATIONS OF THE ROLE OF VILLAGE HEALTH VOLUNTEERS IN THE COVID-19 SITUATION IN THE RESPONSIBLE AREA OF THE BANG-SAI HEALTH PROMOTING HOSPITAL, MUEANG DISTRICT, CHON BURI

Abstract

This survey research aimed to study perception and expectation toward the village health volunteers’ role in the COVID-19 situation among 380 people living in the responsible areas of the Bang sai Health Promoting Hospital, Mueang District, Chonburi. Data were collected within 4 weeks among these people which were divided into 3 parts including personal information, level of perception, and level of expectation. Data were analyzed by using a paired t-test to compare means of perception and expectation.

The results showed that the level of people’s perception was significantly less than the level of expectation (p-value < 0.05). Overall perception and expectation among these people were in good level and high level, respectively. The significant personal factors affecting perception and expectation were occupation and distance.

This research shows that people’s perception and expectation toward the role in the COVID-19 situation can be used to develop the guideline of the village health volunteers’ practice and role in the future pandemic situation.
