DEVELOPMENT OF A TELEMEDICINE NCDS ON CLOUD SERVICE FOR MANAGING UNCONTROLLED BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS IN PATIENTS WITH DIABETES AT HEALTH PROMOTING HOSPITAL

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a service model for managing diabetes patients with poor blood sugar control through telemedicine. The study sample comprised 10 healthcare providers and 166 diabetes patients. The development process included assessing the service needs of both patients and providers, developing and evaluating the model. Research tools included focus group interview guidelines, satisfaction questionnaires, feasibility questionnaires, and service evaluation forms. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and content analysis.

The developed model consisted of the following components: establishing communication and HOSxP PCU database connections, acquiring necessary connecting equipment, and service procedures involving data preparation, communication and database linking, physical examinations, treatment recording, medication administration, counseling, and scheduling follow-up appointments. The results indicated that, on average, 347 patients received services per month (77.39%), with good blood sugar control (20.96%). Costs reduced from an average of 500 Baht per visit to 50-100 Baht per visit. Waiting time decreased from an average of 8 hours to 4 hours. Patients expressed high satisfaction with the services ( = 2.93, S.D.= 0.87). Providers found the services highly feasible ( = 4.30, S.D.= 0.59, indicating that the system did not increase their workload, enhanced convenience, simplified procedures, and became a preferred option for patients.
