PROVIDING FRIENDLY HEALTH SERVICES FOR ADOLESCENTS AND YOUTH TO SOLVE HEALTH BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS OF HEALTH PERSONNELS IN A COMMUNITY HOSPITAL

Abstract

This qualitative research was a phenomenology approach. The purpose of this study was to study the management of friendly health services for adolescents and youth by health personnels in a community hospital, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Key informants were all health service staff members of the adolescent clinic that provide friendly health services for adolescents and youth. Data were collected using in-depth interviews. triangular data check and content analysis was used.

The study found that friendly health services for adolescents and youth services were provided by a multidisciplinary team that integrates cooperation, including general nurses, doctors specializing in sexually transmitted diseases, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatric nurses, and social workers. Providing advice included consultation, referral, and complete treatment covering all dimensions of behavioral health problems.  Proactive and reactive service delivery process were cooperated in caring for adolescents. All sectors work together to solve problems, including parents, health personnels, schools and communities. Principles of behavior of service providers towards youth and youth used good relationships, trust, be courteous, did not show negative gestures or feelings towards the service recipient. Problems or obstacles in providing services were found that most of them came from parents' attitudes. Using profanity or abusing the child and receiving intermittent service. So, health services for adolescents and youth should be planned and developed further operational guidelines for friendly health services for adolescents and youth services.
