The Development of guideline for Newborn hearing screening in Yasothon hospital network)

Abstract

The research is "Research and Development”, the objective of the study was to develop guidelines for newborn hearing screening. Which has 4 steps: 1) surveying and studying the current problem   situation   which using the donabedian model. 2) Designing and development of tools and personnel. 3) Testing research development tools and 4) Using the experimental results for improvement and evaluation. Sample group will be specific, including 1) 26 relevant registered nurses. And 2) 469 newborns who were born between April 1, 2022, and June 30, 2022.

Research results: The screening guidelines developed are for organizing services by dividing service zones into four zones. Organizing a system for referring newborns for treatment. After development, the screening attendance rate was 95.73 %. It was discovered that 0.85% of newborns had abnormalities, and all of them were referred and received treatment. Registered nurses exhibit significantly higher scores in knowledge and skills compared to before development. Nurses express the highest level of satisfaction, mothers exhibit a high level of satisfaction.

Suggestion from the research: Screening guidelines for newborns help support comprehensive public health services, reducing the financial burden of hospital visits can be accomplished through the development of service zones model and the capabilities of personnel within the hospital network. Providing guidance to expectant mothers during pregnancy to create awareness and emphasize the importance of hearing screening will contribute to increased screening for newborns.
