FACTOR ASSOCIATED WITH ACCESS TO DENTAL SERVICES AMONG DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS AT NAMON HOSPITAL, KALASIN PROVINCE, FISCAL YEAR 2023

This cross-sectional descriptive study aimed to the factors associated with access to dental services among diabetes mellitus patients at Namon hospital, Kalasin province. A total sample was 221 samples, which selected by systematic random sampling. The instrument was used a questionnaire consisted of, socio-demographic data, the believe on dental health, the support on access to dental services, and access to dental services. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistic using Pearson’s rank correlation coefficient.
The results showed the response rate at 97.29%. A total of diabetes mellitus (DM) patients was female 75.35% with mean of age at 61.06 + 9.26 years old. The mean of year with DM was 8.95 + 5.99 years and the mean of fasting blood glucose levels was 145.23 + 42.20 mg./dl. DM patients had experience on access to dental services was 45.12%. Moreover, the believe on dental health was high level at 52.56%, the support on access to dental services was moderate level at 50.70%, and the access to dental services was high level at 82.79%. The factors associated with access to dental services among DM patients such as; monthly income (r = 0.174, p-value = 0.011), fasting blood glucose levels (r = -0.129, p-value = 0.047), systolic blood pressure levels (r = -0.228, p-value = 0.001), diastolic blood pressure levels (r = 0.137, p-value = 0.045), believe on dental health (r = 0.296, p-value < 0.001), and the support on access to dental services (r = 0.251, p-value < 0.001).
