This cross-sectional survey study aimed to study the level of knowledge and attitude toward Mitragyna speciosa (Korth.) Havil. and compare the level of knowledge and attitude of Mitragyna speciosa (Korth.) Havil. among the working-age population (18-59 years) in Mueang Sri Khai subdistrict, Warin Chamrap district, Ubon Ratchathani province based on demographic factors, including gender, age, marital status, monthly income, highest education level, and occupation. The study had processed for two months (August-October, 2024). The samples comprised of 231 participants selected through a cluster random sampling method. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of 3 parts; demographic data, knowledge and attitude towards Mitragyna speciosa (Korth.) Havil., Descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U Test and Kruskal-Wallis Test were used for analysis.
The results indicated that participants had a moderate level of knowledge and attitude towards Mitragyna speciosa (Korth.) Havil. (= 13.29, S.D. = 2.21) and (
= 2.73, S.D. = 0.28). The level of knowledge about Mitragyna speciosa (Korth.) Havil. did not differ significantly across demographic factors. However, attitudes toward Mitragyna speciosa (Korth.) Havil. exhibited significant variation at the 0.05 level, depending on monthly income (H = 11.851, p-value = 0.008), highest education level (H = 23.221, p-value = 0.001), and occupation (H = 13.166, p-value = 0.022).
