Estimation of the Number of Dental Nurse Required for a Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospitalby Using Stopwatch Time Study and Expert Opinion Standard Techniqu: A Case Study in Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospitals at Warinchamrab District, Ubonratchath

Abstract

              This study aimed to estimate the number of dental nurses required in subdistrict health promoting hospitals. The samples were 3 dental nurses working for 3 subdistrict health promoting hospitals in Warinchamrab district, Ubonratchathani province.  Each dental nurse’s job was identified by interviewing the subjects. Standard time of working was determined by Stopwatch Time Study technique and by expert opinion technique. Standard time of each job activity was selected from a nurse who did not work too slow or too rush.  Total numbers of works were identified from 2015 yearly report. Data were collected during February – May 2016.

              The study showed that the number of dental nurses required for Kao subdistrict health promoting hospital was 1.51, for Non Kasem subdistrict health promoting hospital was 0.92 and for Pho Yai subdistrict health promoting hospital was 0.89.

               The study showed that some hospitals required more dental nurses than others even though dental nurses had sufficient time to do more works. The results of this study would be useful for administrator in order to allocate dental nurses and more works for dental nurses who had a lot of free time after doing their main duties.
