Diagnostic Value of Ultrasonography in Appendicitis Paholpolpayuhasena Hospital, Kanchanaburi

Abstract

Appendicitis is still the most common acute surgical condition of the abdomen. Fifty-eight patients under going ultrasonography for suspected appendicitis from July 1, 2007, to December 31, 2007 was retrospective reviewed whether ultrasonography improves the diagnostic accuracy. Sensltivity and specificity of ultrasono graphy in diagnosis of appendicitis in this study were 47.37% and 87.17% respectively Ultrasonography although safe and readily available but this study shows rather low sensitivity in this hospital.
