Health Promotion Behaviors of Elders with Thai Traditional Medicine Wisdom of the New Normal: A Case Study of Wat Luang Phromwat Community, Phanatnikhom District, Chonburi Province

Abstract
The purposes of this descriptive research were to study health promotion of elders with Thai Traditional Medicine Wisdom of the New normal and factors relating health promotion of elderly people with Thai Traditional Medicine Wisdom of the New normal. The total numbers of the elderly people in the Wat Luang Phromwat Community, Phanatnikhom District, Chonburi Province were 400 people. The analysis of the data is done using descriptive statistics such as percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient.
The research results demonstrated that the health promotion behaviors of elderly people were a moderate level. The factors for health promotion consist of 3 factors. Predisposing factors, in which most elderly people have knowledge and their perception of benefits of health promotion, were found to be good at 39.75 %, and moderate at 42.00%, respectively. The enabling factors for the access to health promotion service resources were a moderate level, 45.75%. The reinforcing factor for receiving information from various media of the most elderly people were a lower level, 39.50 %. The most of elderly people received social supports at a high level, 38.25 %. All three factors were significantly related to health promotion at a level of 0.001. The relation with predisposing factors is low: correlation values for knowledge and perceived benefits are r = 0.317 and r = 0.378, respectively. The relationship with access to health promotion service sources (enabling factor) is at a moderate level, with correlation value of r = 0.402. The relationship with reinforcing factors; the correlation values for receiving news and for receiving support are low with r = 0.277, and moderate with r =0.527, respectively. The research results can be used as information to set a health education program of promoting health in order to appropriately improve the behavior.
