Range of Motion of Knee Osteoarthritis Patients when Treating with Only Royal Court-type Massage and with Herbal Compression

Abstract
Knee osteoarthritis causes the movement problem in everyday life. The quasi-experiment to compare between only royal court-type massage and with herbal compression will have a different therapeutic effect. The subjects came from the knee osteoarthritis patients who have 60 years of age up and they were the patients of the district hospital. The 2 groups of subjects, 15 each with a total of 30 were treated with only royal court-type massage and royal court-type massage together with herbal compression for consecutive 3 weeks. The results showed that the range of motion before and after treatments of both groups which composed of knee deformities, fold the knee to touch the groin, measure the heel near the buttocks, leg circumference 5 centimeters below the patella, leg circumference 5 centimeters above the patella, lie on the stomach knee extension, lie on the stomach knee flexion, lie on the back knee extension, and lie on the back knee flexion were differentiated at significance level p<0.05 using paired sample t test, but only knee deformities and lie on the back knee extension were not significantly different. The treatment by royal court-type massage and herbal compression reduced swollen knee and larger the angle in lie on the back knee extension.
