Abstract

This research aimed to investigate heavy metals including Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Arsenic (As) and Mercury (Hg). Ten herbal formulations of Sakon Nakhon Thai Traditional Medicine Hospital Luang Pu FabbSupatto were used to study heavy metal (Cd, Pb, As and Hg) The herbal formulations composed of Taowanpriang, Prasacetphangkhi, Sahatthara, Thoraneesanthakat, Homnawakot, Prasachandang, Kasaysen, Homteppajit, Kaminchan and Wanchucmodluk. Sample 0.25g.Wet digestion was done by using 65% v/v nitric acid and 35% v/v hydrogen peroxide (ration 2:1). The heavy metals were analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). Modes of analyzing were flame atomic absorption for Cd and graphite furnace for As, Pb and Mercuryvaporunit for Hg. The result showed that all heavy metals were not over the permission limit of Thai herbal pharmacopoeia 2020 and World Health Organization criteria. All poly herbal formulas were safe for consumption.
