The study of local Khit Sen Isaan massage wisdom : a case study of Mr. Narong Sittisongkhram

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the wisdom of local Isaan massage and the process of Mr. Narong Sittisongkram treatment that has been preserved since the past by accumulating experience and passing on knowledge from generation to generation. This research is qualitative research. The Self-administered question, answer interviews and semi-structured interviews were used for research tools. The qualitative data analysis was analyzed content and verified information from credible documents and refences.


From research, it was found that Local Khit Sen lsaan Massage Wisdom of Mr. Narong Sittisongkhram's has been inherited from his mother that has transferred knowledge until become experience and skill in treatment including total of 3 steps 1) Basic massage 2) Khit Sen Massage and 3) The muscles stretching. Mr. Narong Sittisongkram has a process for treating diseases/symptoms with the Khit Sen massage technique. The symptoms have total 6 including migraine, frozen shoulder, Scapulocostal syndrome, Piriformis Syndrome, Sprained ankle, Knee osteoarthritis.


When analyze the treatment process by using the Khit Sen massage method of Mr. Narong, it was found that the process correlates with points and lines of the Royal Thai massage and promoting health Thai massage (Chalaysak) with intregated the Khit Sen massage knowledge that has been passed down from ancestors until became a unique technique and has been present treatment.
