Knowledge and Health Care Behaviorfor the Elderly with Movement Disability of Family Caregivers in Tambon Phayu, Kraseng District, Sisaket Province

This survey research aimed to study knowledge, behaviors and relationship between knowledge and caring for the elderly with movement disability behavior of family caregivers. The samples were 36 family members in the area of responsibility of Krasaeng Tambon Health Promotion Hospital, Phayu District, Sisaket Province. They were the members who had taken care of movement disabled person in the family. Data were collected using questionnaires. Demographic data, knowledge and behaviors of family members in caring for the elderly with movement disability were collected. Quality of the questionnaires was assessed by three experts and the reliability was .92. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, average, standard deviationand Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient.
The results showed that the family caregivers’ knowledge of caring for the elderly with movement disability was at a high level (M = 18.50, SD. = 2.38) and caring for the elderly with movement disability behavior was at a high level (M = 4.52, SD = 0.98). However knowledge of caring for the elderly withmovement disability was not significantly relatedto caring behavior.
