The Effect of Community-Based Teaching and Learning Management on the Use of Courseville in Health Promotion to Enhance the 21st Century Learning Skills of Nursing Students

Abstract

            This research was a quasi-experimental research. The purposes of this research were to 1) study the 21^stcentury learning skills of nursing students using community-based instruction with Courseville and 2) investigate the nursing students' perceptions of the quality and instructional model. The population was 85 second year nursing students enrolled in the first semester of the academic year 2016 at Ubon Ratchathani University. The research instruments consisted of a community-based instructional model with the use of Courseville in the health promotion curriculum. The value of feasibility and possibility was 5.00. The reliability of the 21^st century learning assessment form was 0.91 and that of the satisfaction assessment form on teaching quality and style was 0.92. Data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation.

            The research findings were as follows. First, after the instructional management, the 21^st century learning skills of nursing students using community-based instruction with Courseville was at a high level (M = 4.24, SD = 0.52),of all the aspect, the top three were cooperative skills, teamwork, and leadership (M = 4.40, SD = 0.55), functional skills in health promotion (M = 4.34, SD = 0.54) and moral ethics and responsibility (M = 4.20, SD = 0.46).Second, thesatisfaction with the quality and the form of community-based instructionusing Courseville was at a high level (M = 4.28, SD = 0.42).
