Factors Influencing the Professional Learning Community of Nursing Instructors in Nursing College under the Ministry of Public Health

Abstract

          This research aimed to study the factors influencing the professional learning community (PLC) of nursing instructors in College of Nursing under jurisdiction of the Ministry of Public Health. This research was divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 was a quantitative research; data were obtained from nursing instructors who had been on duty for a period of at least 5 years. The samples were selected by systematic sampling of 364 people from 16 nursing colleges out of 30 nursing colleges. The data collection instruments were a set of questionnaires developed by the researcher with the reliability .97. The statistics used for data analysis was SEM. Phase 2 was a qualitative research that interviewed in nursing instructors who perform regular duties and worked for at least 10 years. The samples were purposively selected and were interviewed until the data were saturated by a semi-structured interview. Data were analyzed by usingcontent analysis. The results in quantitative research found that 1) job engagement and the inno vative leadership had a positive direct effect on being a PLC of nursing instructors and 2) organizational culture and innovative leadership of nursing instructors had a positive indirect effect on being PLC by passing on job engagement. Qualitative research found that factors affecting PLC were divided into 2 levels, with individual levels consisted of 1) academic leadership, 2) innovative leadership 3) job engagement and 4) transformative leadership of administrator and the institute consisted of organization culture and open organizational climate.
