Nursing Care of Patients Receiving Wound Vacuum Assisted Closure Suction System for Treatment

Nowadays, the development of advanced wound healing technology has progressed. The vacuum assisted closure suction (VAC) system is a popular method for treating wounds. It is considered an advanced wound care innovation that helps promote wound healing which will result in better quality of life for patients and families. This article is aimed to present an approach to wound care for patients receiving treatment with a wound VAC system using empirical evidence with regard to the following 5 topics: 1) the functional principles of VAC, 2) the benefits to wound healing with VAC, 3) the contraindications to the use of VAC, 4) the mechanism of wound healing when using VAC, and 5) the nurses’ role in caring for patients receiving treatment with a VAC system.
