Perceived Sensitivity and Decision-Making in Nursing Ethics of Nursing Students Faculty of Nursing, Praboromarajchanok Institute

Sensitivity to perception and decision-making in nursing ethics is a fundamental factor influencing the ethical behavior of nurses. This study aimed to compare the perceived sensitivity and decision-making in the nursing ethics of nursing students. There were 420 student participants in the study from the 2nd to the 4th year of the Bachelor of Nursing Science program under the jurisdiction of the Phraboromarajchanok Institute, which includes eight nursing colleges. The tools used to collect data were perceived sensitivity and decision-making in the nursing ethics questionnaire. The item’s objective congruences (IOC) of the two questionnaires were between 0.67-1.00. Their reliabilities (Cronbach’s alpha coefficient) were 0.87 and 0.93., respectively. Descriptive and variance statistics analyzed data. The results showed that the ethical sensitivity of the nursing students overall was moderate (M = 3.18, SD = 0.27), and decision-making in nursing ethics overall was moderate (M = 2.61, SD = 0.78). There were statistically significant the comparing differences in the sensitivity to perception and ethical decision-making of nursing students, it was found that students with different year levels sensitive to ethical perception, p< .05 (F (4170)= 13.56) and had different decision-making in nursing ethics, p< .05 (F (4170) = 4.498). The study results can lead to the development of teaching and learning to strengthen nursing students to have more nursing ethics.
