The Development of Nursing Care Practice for Prevention and Control of Multidrug Resistance Organism for Critical Medical Patients, Rajavithi Hospital

The problem of infection with multidrug-resistant bacteria is serious and tends to increase. This
research is research and development. The objective was to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing care practice guidelines for preventing and controlling multidrug-resistant bacteria. The sample group was professional nurses. 19 people working in the critical medical unit and the patients receiving treatment in the critical medicine unit Before using the guideline 103 people and after using the guideline 99 people. The study was divided into 3 phases, namely 1) a situation analysis study 2) development of the guideline, and 3) evaluating the effectiveness of the guideline. Tools used to collect information include data record form. Knowledge and Satisfaction in using practice guidelines. practice guideline observation record form and a surveillance form for drug-resistant infections. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Independent two-group t-test and Poisson regression equation. The results showed that The developed guideline consists of 8 areas of practice and 3 areas of management system. Groups using the new guidelines There was a decrease in the rate of drug-resistant infections (RR = 2.44, p = 0.039). The mean knowledge scores of professional nurses in using the new guideline (M = 16.26, SD = 1.56) were higher than those using the old guideline (M=8.21, SD = 2.42), t(18)=14.19, p<.05, d=8.05 and the nurses were satisfied with the developed guideline overall at the highest level (M=4.76, SD=0.48).
