Experience Regarding Innovative Leadership among Nursing Lecturers in Private University Institutions
Keywords:

This qualitative phenomenological research aimed to explore the experiences and meanings of innovative leadership among nursing lecturers in private university institutions. The study involved 17 participants in the initial focus group and 6 key informants who were purposively selected for in-depth interviews. Data were collected between March and May 2025. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequencies and percentages, while the qualitative data were analyzed based on the method of Giorgi and Morley. The research findings revealed that innovative leadership was defined as the courage to think, act, and experiment with new approaches to drive meaningful change. Key characteristics included having vision, thinking creatively, and integrating new ideas to enhance teaching and nursing services. Three major themes emerged: (1) fostering students to become innovators, (2) applying innovations in teaching and learning, and (3) adapting instructional techniques to align with 21st-century education. Barriers included excessive administrative workload, limited financial support for innovation, and unclear evaluation of innovation-related outcomes, leading to low motivation. The study provides a foundation for designing development programs to enhance innovative leadership among nursing instructors in Thailand’s private higher education institutions.
