This quasi-experimental, one-group, pretest-posttest design study aimed to examine the effects of a health behavior modification program based on lifestyle medicine principles on health literacy, health behaviors, and clinical outcomes in obese hospital personnel. The sample consisted of 60 personnel from a tertiary hospital with a body mass index greater than or equal to 25 kg/m². Participants were selected through consecutive sampling. The research instruments included a health behavior modification program based on lifestyle medicine principles (Item–Objective Congruence (IOC) = 0.96), a general information and clinical outcomes recording form (IOC = 0.90), a health literacy assessment tool (Content Validity Index (CVI) = 0.90), and a health behavior assessment tool based on lifestyle medicine principles. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests. The research findings revealed that, after participating in the 12-week program, the sample group showed statistically significant increases in mean health literacy scores and health behaviors based on lifestyle medicine principles compared to before program participation (p < 0.001). Additionally, the sample group demonstrated statistically significant decreases in body mass index and waist circumference compared to before program participation (p < 0.001). This reflects that the program can effectively enhance health literacy and health behaviors based on lifestyle medicine principles, and reduce body mass index and waist circumference. However, long-term follow-up evaluation should be conducted.
