            ความก้าวหน้าทางเทคโนโลยีและการเข้าถึงอินเทอร์เน็ตได้ง่ายเป็นสิ่งที่มีบทบาทในชีวิตประจำวันของคนไทยทุกเพศทุกวัย เยาวชนเป็นกลุ่มที่มีจำนวนผู้ใช้อินเทอร์เน็ตมากที่สุดเมื่อเทียบกับกลุ่มอายุอื่นๆ ปัญหาจากการใช้อินเทอร์เน็ตเป็นระยะเวลานานอย่างต่อเนื่องหรือไม่สามารถควบคุมตนเองได้เป็นปัญหาที่ส่งผลกระทบต่อการดำเนินชีวิตประจำวัน การเรียน การทำงาน และสุขภาพร่างกาย แม้การติดอินเทอร์เน็ตจะยังไม่ได้รับรองว่าเป็นโรคสำคัญทางจิตเวช แต่มีข้อบ่งชี้บางอย่างที่มีลักษณะคล้ายคลึงกับโรคติดการพนัน การช่วยเหลือให้ผู้ติดอินเทอร์เน็ตสามารถควบคุมเวลาในการใช้อินเทอร์เน็ตได้อย่างเหมาะสม รวมถึงการช่วยเหลือเพื่อบรรเทาอาการต่างๆ ทางร่างกายอันเนื่องมาจากการใช้เวลาอยู่กับอินเตอร์เน็ตมากเกินไป จึงเป็นบทบาทที่สำคัญของพยาบาล บทความนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อให้ผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเยาวชนได้ตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของการติดอินเทอร์เน็ตและให้การดูแลช่วยเหลือโดยเน้นการมีส่วนร่วมของครอบครัวในการวางแผนการดูแลตนเองที่เหมาะสมตามสภาพของผู้รับการบำบัดแต่ละราย

Abstract

            The growth of technology and internet accessibility influences the daily life of Thais in all age groups and genders. Youth are the majority of internet users compared to other age groups. Internet overuse or excessive use indicates the mal-adaptive patterns of internet use which could lead to routine daily life, family, academic, work, and physical health dysfunctions. Although internet addiction is not yet a Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV (DSM IV) diagnosis, there are some indicators which constitute behavioral addiction in the same way that others become gambling addicts. Helping internet addiction users to appropriately control their length of time using the internet and to relieve physical problems according to internet overuse are important roles of nurses. The purposes of this article are to give a comprehensive overview of internet addiction as a clinical entity in hopes to create awareness of the existence of this emerging phenomenon and to appropriately provide care based on a family care center to fit with each client.
