PREVENTIVE BEHAVIORS CORONAVIRUS DISEASE 2019 AMONG UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS IN THE BACHELOR OF PUBLIC HEALTH PROGRAMME UNDER A COMMUNICABLE DISEASE SURVEILLANCE

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a communicable disease under surveillance that has been downgraded in severity from a dangerous infectious disease. It is primarily transmitted via the respiratory route, and new infections continue to be reported. This cross-sectional survey study aimed to examine preventive behaviors against COVID-19 among undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor of Public Health Program under a communicable diseases surveillance.The participants consisted of 150 undergraduate students from the Community Public Health and Dental Public Health programs. Data were collected using a self-administered online questionnaire between October 9 and 20, 2022. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, minimum, maximum, and mean values, as well as the Chi-square test.
The results showed that the majority of participants were female (90.67%), with a mean age of 20.30 years. The average monthly allowance was 5,171.33 Thai Baht. Most students were enrolled in the Dental Public Health program (54.67%), had no underlying diseases (96.00%), had previously been infected with COVID-19 (53.33%), and all participants (100%) had received the COVID-19 vaccination. Overall, 92.00% of students demonstrated a high level of COVID-19 preventive behaviors. The most frequently practiced behavior was wearing a face mask when interacting with others (79.33%). No statistically significant association was found between the field of study and COVID-19 preventive behaviors (p-value = 0.791).
