Surveillance of Microbial Contamination and Weight Variation in Herbal Medicine Products in Trang, Phatthalung and Satun Provinces (2023-2025)

Herbal products are essential to Thailand’s public health system. Quality control is the primary factor in establishing confidence regarding the safety and efficacy of their use. This study aimed to monitor the microbial contamination and weight variation of herbal products manufactured by hospitals in Trang, Phatthalung and Satun provinces during the fiscal years 2023–2025. A total of 55 samples from 10 herbal lists were collected and analyzed for microbial contamination and weight variation in accordance with the notification of the Herbal Products Committee B.E. 2564 (2021) and its supplement. The results showed that all samples complied with all quality requirements for every test item. These findings reflect the importance of safety surveillance, raw material selection, and production process control following good manufacturing practices (GMP) within hospital facilities. Therefore, continuous quality control from raw materials to fi nished products is essential for sustainably enhancing the quality and safety of herbal
products.
