Abstract

The purposes of this study were to know the factors and guidelines for reducing image retake rate in Digital Radiography of Chest PA Upright and Knee Lateral Standing by radiologic technologists at Songklanakarind Hospital. This project is Cross-Sectional Analysis Study. we studied about the factors that effect to image retake rate from the Reject and Usage Analysis Tool program. we collected the data before guidelines one month for analysis. After that, we made the guidelines, and collected the data after guidelines one month. we brought data two months to compare. As a result of data analysis before making guidelines, we found that the number of top three images retake separated by body part were Chest (18.93%), Knee (17.46%) and Abdomen (8.63%) respectively. The reasons for reject of Chest were Positioning/Breathing (66.67%), Other reasons (14.18%), Foreign Material/Artifacts (9.93%), Patient Motion (8.51%) and Position by Orthopedics (0.71%). The reasons for reject of Knee were Positioning (52.65%), Patient Motion (22.86%), Position by Orthopedics (10.61%), Other reasons (8.98%), Foreign Material (2.86%) and X-ray system failure (2.04%). The image retake rate of Chest PA Upright before making the guideline was 1.96%, after making the guideline was 2.48%. The image retake rate of Knee Lateral Standing, before making the guideline was 17.11%, after making the guideline was 16.10%. It showed that, the image retake rate of Knee Lateral Standing reduced but Chest PA Upright didn’t reduce.
