Health Care With Local Wisdom In Lom Sak District, Phetchabun Province

Abstract

The objective of this qualitative research is study health care with local wisdom in Lom Sak District, Phetchabun Province. Four key informants selected to study by purposive seletion, selected from folk healers who have specialized knowledge in the treatment of many diseases and have more than 10 years of continuously healing experience in the sub district. Data were collected using indepth interview and observations.

            The results revealed that Health care with local wisdom is a holistic treatments, which are treat a disease physically, mental health and spiritual health, such as massage therapy, local herbal treatments, blowing health, witchcraft and performing healing rituals. In the treatment of traditional knowledge that has been passed down from ancestors or folk healers. The folk healers were very experienced in the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases, fevers, skin diseases and other diseases. The treatment consists medical history taking, physical examination and diagnose diseases according to the theory of Thai traditional medicine. The Health care with local wisdom by folk healers has extremely important role in treating diseases for people at the community level. for efficiency and safety which will benefit the public health system and to conserve the knowledge of the nation.
