The Wisdom of Healer for Amenorrhea Treatment in Hongcharoen Sub District, Thasae District, Chumphon Province

Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to study the treatment wisdom about amenorrhea treatment in Hongcharoen sub district, Thasae district, Chumphon province. Data were collected from 2 groups key informants are 2 folk healers and 4 patients according to the selected criteria. The tools used in the study were interview guide. The data from the interviews were analyzed by content analysis.


The results showed that both folk healers were elderly people had inherited treatment amenorrhea wisdom from his father and the idea of passing on wisdom to his family person. There is a method of learning is memorizing and taking notes. There is a treatment process from interviewing folk healers and patients in 3 processes, 1) Pre-treatment, including history taking and physical examination of the lower abdomen. They were diagnosis from interviewed based on the patient's and compare symptoms according to textbooks. 2) The treatment is to dispense herbs that have the same medicinal hot flavor and 3) Post-treatment, including eat freshly cooked food and flavorful food, drinking warm water, avoiding meat. The results were regular menstruation and no side effects after the treatment. Recommendations, it can be concluded that hot herbs with essential oils can help drive menstruation out.  Suggestion from the results of study to adjusted as herbs in the herbal list in primary health care. However, the indication must be specified to be accurate, appropriate and safe for each type of patient as well.
