Factors Related to Self-treatment with Kratom of People in Khanom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province English

Abstract

The objectives of this survey were to examine self-treatment with Kratom remedies of people in Khanom district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province and explore factors related to self-treatment with Kratom of people in Khanom district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. Accidental sampling was employed to select the samples of the study that were population in Khanom aged 20-59 years. Questionnaires were used for data collection from 387 samples, during May-July, 2022. Data were collected by questionnaire and were analyzed by using mean, percentage, standard deviation, Chi-square, and Pearson correlation coefficient.


The result found that most people (58.40%) in Khanom district used self-treatment with Kratom in moderate level. Most people (65.37%) used Kratom to reduce muscle aches. The personal factors including sex, age, education level, experiencing in using Kratom 1-2 years were related to self-treatment with Kratom remedies at significant (p <0.005). Predisposing factors including knowledge, perceived benefit, attitude were related to self-treatment with Kratom remedies at significant (p <0.005). Enabling factors including acquisition way, cost were related to self-treatment with Kratom remedies at significant (p <0.005). Reinforcing factors including personal media exposure, specialized media exposure and mass media exposure were related to self-treatment with Kratom remedies at significant (p <0.005).
