ความต้องการจำเป็นในการพัฒนาความสามารถด้านภาษาอังกฤษของบุคลากรสุขภาพ

บทคัดย่อ
การวิจัยเชิงพรรณนานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความต้องการจำเป็นและปัญหาอุปสรรคในการพัฒนาความสามารถภาษาอังกฤษของบุคลากรสุขภาพ กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ บุคลากรสุขภาพที่ปฏิบัติงานใน 13 เขตสุขภาพ จำนวน 217 คน โดยเก็บข้อมูลก่อนเข้าอบรมในหลักสูตรภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อการปฏิบัติงาน เครื่องมือวิจัยประกอบด้วยข้อมูลทั่วไปและแบบสอบถามทักษะและความต้องการจำเป็นในการพัฒนาความสามารถภาษาอังกฤษ สถิติที่ใช้วิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ดัชนีลำดับความสำคัญของความต้องการจำเป็น (modified priority needs index-PNImodified) และการวิเคราะห์เชิงเนื้อหา ผลการวิจัย พบว่า กลุ่มตัวอย่างประเมินความสามารถภาษาอังกฤษของตนเองที่เป็นอยู่จริง โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง (=2.47, SD=.67) และความสามารถภาษาอังกฤษของตนเองที่ควรจะเป็น อยู่ในระดับสูง (
=3.77, SD=2.35) ค่าดัชนีลำดับความสำคัญของความต้องการจำเป็นในการพัฒนาความสามารถภาษาอังกฤษ เท่ากับ .52 เมื่อวิเคราะห์ความต้องการจำเป็นรายด้าน บุคลากรสุขภาพมีความต้องการจำเป็นในการพัฒนาทักษะการอ่านเป็นลำดับแรก (PNImodified .60) และทักษะการฟังเป็นลำดับสุดท้าย (PNImodified .40) ปัญหาอุปสรรคในการพัฒนาความสามารถภาษาอังกฤษ ได้แก่ การนำภาษาอังกฤษไปใช้จริงน้อยเนื่องจากไม่มีโอกาส ขาดความมั่นใจและขาดโอกาสในการพัฒนา ดังนั้นเขตสุขภาพและกระทรวงสาธารณสุขควรกำหนดการพัฒนาความสามารถภาษาอังกฤษไว้เป็นนโยบายหลักในการพัฒนากำลังคนด้านสุขภาพ และหน่วยบริการสุขภาพควรส่งเสริมการพัฒนาความสามารถและการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษของบุคลากรสุขภาพอย่างต่อเนื่อง
