The findings revealed that pre- and post-treatment pain between the group of Kati Basti using sesame oil and the other group of Kati Basti using Num Man Kad Mon was significantly different (p ≤ 0.01). According to the comparison of post-treatment pain levels between both groups, it was found that those levels were not significantly different. According to the study of side effects, they were not found in both groups. The overall satisfaction toward Kati Basti in both groups was highest.
Effectiveness and safety of Kati Basti using sesame oil and Num Man Kad Mon were not different. Therefore, this type of therapy can be an option for knee pain relief in patients with knee osteoarthritis.
