The Study of Effect of Wart Treatment in Out Patients Injected by Intralesional Immunotherapy with Tuberculin PPD

Abstract

Background: Warts are skin infections caused by Human Papillomavirus which may stimulate cell division so highly that harden lumps occur onto skin. There are several different treatments are available : wart remover containing salicylic acid, laser treatment, surgery. However, neither of them provide highest efficacy and the expenses are different. Therefore the researcher is interested in the effect of wart treatment by Tuberculin PPD injection onto the lesion, which is considered to be an alternative.
Objective: Investigate the effect of wart treatment by Intralesional Tuberculin PPD injection and the complications.
Material and Method: Inject the biggest lesion with 10 iu Tuberculin PPD and repeat doing this every two weeks until there was no thickening and hyperkeratosis, but not exceed 6 times.
Result: After studying 13 patients, it was found that there were 7 patients of males under 15 and 4 patients of between 45-49 years old. 11 patients of them had more than one lesion. The result was shown that most patients (7 patients) were in remission after the second injection. เท patients with multiple other warts, lesions that were not treated also disappeared in 7 patients. Anyway, two patients had erythema on the injected site but it soon disappeared in two days without antibiotic use.
Summary: Wart treatment by Intralesional Tuberculin PPD injection is one of the most efficient approaches and also provides no serious complications. Probably it can be the alternative approach for wart in various sites.
