Severe Injury Due to Transport Accidents at Surin Hospital 2002-2007

Abstract

Background: Transport accident is a major national problem and also in Surin province. Surin hospital in situation of local health care and trauma care center must take responsibility. So we can improved quality of trauma management system in proper way by analyzed Injury Surveillance Program data.
Objective: To determine the epidemiology, behavior risk and outcome of trauma care.
Design: Descriptive study
Setting: Surin Hospital
Method: Analyzed data of 33,809 injury due to transport accidents patients at Surin hospital that recorded in Injury Surveillance Program, during October 1, 2002 - September 30, 2007.
Result: The epidemiology of transport accidents data at Surin hospital did not change since October 1, 2002. Helmet ignored and alcohol used are still problemed in transport accidents. Improvement in primary care of traumatic patients observed. Result of severe injury care in some aspect in Surin hospital is understandard.
Conclusion: Trauma management system in Surin hospital should be evaluated to find out how to Improve outcome of traumatic care.
